James Jacob PraschThe Moriel blog is a searchable database of articles, announcements, and teachings which have been variably published on our website since the inception of Moriel Ministries more than 25 years ago, and some articles come from sources even older than that. We issue no disclaimer for anything included in the articles at the time of publication. Unfortunately, there will always be a backlog of persons or things we once endorsed but due to later events we now consider unscriptural. We trust our readers will bear this in mind when reading what is posted here. From time to time we remove material we no longer consider relevant or scripturally sound.

This is the homepage where a random selection of articles are shown.Refresh your page to get a different selection or choose from the menu (below left). Looking for something or someone specific? Type it in the search box above. You may also comment on an article. Blessings.

The Notorious Tanners

[caption id="attachment_510" align="alignright" width="250" caption="The Tanners"][/caption]

by Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum, Th.M, Ph.D
Director, Ariel Ministrie, Tustin, CA What is extremely interesting are the passages that the Wendys chose not to quote. Did Paul really teach against the practice of Jewish customs by Jewish believers? One only has to look at Acts 21:20-26 to see that Paul publicly took a vow for one specific reason: he did not teach against believers continuing in the practice of Jewish customs and traditions. He certainly taught against Gentile circumcision, but as this passage shows, he did not teach against Jewish circumcision and his own initiative of the circumcision of Timothy, who had Jewish backgrounds, shows how often Paul went out of his way to maintain his own Jewish identity. Did Paul consider himself only a former Jew, but a Jew no longer since he believed? On the contrary, he kept affirming his own present Jewish identity. Notice the use of Paul"s present tense in II ‚  Corinthians 11:22: Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. This is only one example where Paul more than once affirms his Jewishness following his salvation. What you find Paul doing consistently is affirming both his Jewishness and his faith in Christ (he never used the term "Christian" of himself). The LCJE statement they quote is simply following Paul"s footsteps. They wish to affirm both their faith in the Messiahship of Jesus as well as their Jewish identity. As believers, the Wendys have the absolute right to maintain their Australian identity and culture. They also have the right to remain women. By the same token, Jewish believers have the right to maintain their Jewish identity; but the Wendys wish to deny them that privilege because they have a real problem with Jewishness. The above is followed by another guilt by association statement: Read more ...

Buddha or Jesus?

Speculations versus Security! Buddhism began in the sixth century B.C. in India. Siddharta Gautama found that neither luxury nor self-mortification brought contentment. He was given the name, Buddha, meaning "the Enlightened One." Read more ...

Is Your Modern Translation Corrupt?

Answering the Allegations of KJV Only Advocates Summary King James Version only advocates argue that all modern translations of the New Testament are based on Greek manuscripts that contain intentional doctrinal corruptions. However, an examination of the most important manuscripts underlying these translations demonstrates that such charges are based more upon prejudice than fact. The papyri finds of the last century, together with the great uncial texts from the fourth and fifth centuries A.D., do not deprecate the deity of Christ, the Trinity, or salvation by grace through faith. Modern translations, such as the NIV and NASB, are not "corrupt" but instead trustworthy and useful translations of the Word of God. Read more ...

Director, Ariel Ministrie, Tustin, CA Specific Responses Page 5: As stated earlier, typical of anti-Semites is the belief that there is some kind of a world Jewish conspiracy. The conspiracy factor comes out quite early in the article in dealing with Jacob Prasch, accusing him of wanting to change the Bible "to suit his Jewish plans." A denial of the inspiration of the King James Version is part of the Jewish conspiracy and so they write: Read more ...

Director, Ariel Ministrie, Tustin, CA The Despatch Magazine is produced by Endtime Ministries Assoc., based in Australia and put together by Wendy B. Howard and Wendy K. Beuster. I was sent a copy of the June 2000 (Vol. 12, No. 2) issue since it contained a rather vicious attack on myself and a number of other Messianic Jewish leaders, particularly Jacob Prasch. It made for rather tedious reading since it is 96 pages long, and not very edifying since it is nothing but one attack after another after another of various members of the Body of Christ. It is obvious that the Wendys are often attacking me and others, not based upon first-hand information, but purely on the fallacy of "guilt by association," and/or on the basis of Jewishness, and/or on the basis of what translation these individuals choose to use. Dear Beloved
Attached is a photo of Carlos. He's 4 years old and pictured here with his mum. His mum Themba is going into hospital to die of HIV/AIDS. She wanted to take him and settle him in a place where he would be loved and nurtured in Christ as she herself is a believer. As you can imagine parting company was traumatic. Please pray for this little one and if the Lord burdens your heart to help in some way then do not hesitate to contact us.

Nine out of ten adults contend that their faith is very important in their life, and three out of every four adults who consider themselves to be Christian say there are aspects of their faith life they would like to improve. A new national survey by The Barna Group discovered that there are two faith dimensions in which people are most likely to desire such improvement, but that few people believe that they are immature in any of seven aspects of faith practice. Reasons For This Paper As manager of a conservative evangelical Christian literature service I am being asked with increasing frequency by concerned customers for information about Rick Warren"s best-seller of over 20 million copies, "The Purpose-Driven Life" (Zondervan, 2002). There are also believers personally known to me asking for similar information. Many good papers have already been written, to which this is intended to be a useful supplement. Because so many believers and churches are being affected, and because PDL contains so much harmful, dangerous false teaching, I have sought the Lord"s help to set out clearly and systematically, in a single paper, the basic objections and dangers I have found in this book. Christian Human Rights in Israel

Two Kinds Of Christians

A March 31 open letter issued by the World Council of Churches denounced "repeated declarations by the (Israeli) government's top leaders" that "all of Jerusalem will belong to Israel". Turkish Church Given Deadline of 14 October

Further to our previous Rapid Lobbying Action we have now heard that the Ephesus Protestant Church at Seljuk has now been given the deadline of 14 October to remove not only the superstructure (providing shade and shelter) which contravenes building regulations, but also the parapet around the roof, the solar power panel and the air-conditioning unit. Thus, not only will the roof (a valuable extra room) be too hot and unsafe to use, but the whole building will be rendered unusable without power and air-conditioning. In view of these developments we have taken the unusual step of contacting you a second time to ask if you can write to your MP, MEP and the Turkish Ambassador. We were very grateful for your letters to the mayor. If you are able to write again please act as soon as you can in order in order to prevent the council taking its threatened action against the church.Read more ...

Cleric Supports Targeting Children

Dear Friends in Christ

I felt led to write this small article as an encouragement to those involved in church planting or who partner Moriel in our planting program. In this fallen world we live in its easy to get side tracked and focused on the opposition we receive from the world, the flesh and the devil and we fail to step back occasionally and recognise the joy that new believers receive at their Baptism. yes Yeshua is still in the business of drawing souls to Himself through the leading of the Holy Spirit and it was with real joy and a time of celebration that 6 people from Moriel came through the waters of Baptism and it was a privilege to assist Ps Bernard Mathe in our small pool. One of the people baptised ‚  was Yvonne one of our elderly missionaries who was sprinkled as baby but at 70 now recognises the need to be obedient to our Saviour. Jesus said 'If you love me you obey my commandments', Baptism was a step of real obedience for these people. Read more ...

Healing Path Reopens Old Wounds

When Mike Phillips decided it was time to clear the air about a secret that had hung over him for more than 36 years, he hoped the Catholic Church would practice the contrition and charity it preached.

It never fails to amaze me when I come across some aberrational point of theology or cultic view of Christ or God. "How could they not see this, or how could they overlook the error in that point?" But when it comes to the ever-changing religious fables springing up in the Catholic Church, one would have to physically put on spiritual blinders not to see through their obvious errors. Let's look at one of their latest logical blunders.Read more ...

Reaching Catholics for Christ

By Evangelist Mike Gendron
Director of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministry
www.pro-gospel.org
972-495-0485
PO Box 940871
Plano, TX 75094 How do you approach Catholics who believe they are already Christians? How do you share the Gospel with Catholics who are adding to what Jesus finished on Calvary's cross? We must begin by telling them that sacrifice of the Lord Jesus was perfect, complete and sufficient for their salvation. To add to Christ's finished work of redemption is to nullify grace - the only means by which God saves sinners (Rom. 11:6). Most Catholics do not know God's punishment for sin or His only provision for it. If we are to reach Catholics for Christ we must tell them God's righteous justice requires the death penalty for any and all sin. Only then will they see how futile their works are, and only then will they turn to the Savior, who died as a substitute, to pay the death penalty sinners deserve.Read more ...
